"Something Needs to Change," was a project from my Spring Semester 2021 class, Image & Design taught by Nadia Issa. Our prompt was to make a series of three social change posters that advocated for a cause of our choice. For me, that cause I was passionate about was access to insulin in the United States. My mother is a type one diabetic and pays hundreds of dollars each month to have access to the medicine that keeps her alive. I was diagnosed with hypoglycemia and pose a high risk of developing type one diabetes so this issue is very near and dear to my heart. I wanted my posters to reflect the pain and the need that Americans with diabetes face while also including information and hashtags as a call to action. I chose to represent Insulin as "liquid gold," because at the current U.S. rates, insulin is more costly than gold. This project was my first project done using Adobe Illustration and for my first time I am still quite proud of it.
